Support for Local Writers

Another thing that I’m excited about with this new venture of mine, is being able to connect writers who feel like they’ve not had any support in the past. We all need a community of like-minded individuals who encourage each other, especially as writers. I’m designing a few classes that will work together or separately to help bring people together. Support Your Local Writer (Wednesday, 9/21/22, 10:00am-11:30am) will help to feed your soul as a writer: support, encouragement, ideas to make your writing better, classes to take to help you become a stronger writer, connections to places where your work may get published, and a lifeline when you have writer’s block. My goal is to create a cohesive group that will reinforce each other and will become your ‘Writing Group’ separately from this class. I know I wouldn’t be where I am as a writer if I didn’t have my writing group, so I’d like to help others to find their own ‘team’.

Start Your Novel in September (9/23/22, 2:00pm-3:30pm) will get you on your way to write, write, write. We’ll talk about story structure theories and how other books and movies use those structures. We’ll get those juices flowing with writing prompts so you can take it from there and soar! National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is coming, and this class will get you ready to finish that novel by the end of November. Start Your Novel in October (10/12/22, 9:30am-11:00am) will also get those juices flowing with writing prompts and a chance to write and workshop. Encouragement, relationships, and practice, I feel, is the magic to becoming a better writer and getting your novels done.

Write Your Stories will help you get those stories down that keep creeping in your head. This is a 4-class series on Thursdays in October (10/6/22-10/27/22, 2:00pm-3:30pm). We’ll share stories and workshop along the way. Through this writing community, you’ll find your team. Maybe you want to create a book of short stories, maybe a zine, or you want to try to publish your short story on the internet. Whatever your writing goals, this class will give you the tools and support you need.

Your community of writers is waiting for you to join. Just know that I understand the frustrations of writing because it can be a lonely isolating place. However, when you have your team who can read your work and encourage you along the way, you won’t feel isolated anymore. Cheers! I hope to see you all in my classes. Sign up for one or all of them because the sky is the limit! Or in the case of science fiction, not even the sky is the limit!
