Her Wordship Begins

On March 16, 2022, I applied for my business license. The most difficult part of that process was thinking up a name for my business. Names are hard because I know how important they are. They mean everything. Book titles have to set the right tone and rhythm for the entire book. So important. Your character names can create mental images for your readers that will make or ruin the book. Names of towns, pets, favorite hangouts, etc. can create images and ideas that help drive the story. The perfect name is powerful and far-reaching, and I, admittedly am lacking in that area of creativity. We had a ski boat once and I never could decide on its name. What boat, I ask you, has an empty spot where most boats display their name proudly? Ours. So sorry family. I just couldn’t decide.

So, after going through many names for the business, googling them as I, friends, or a few business name creator websites thought them up, I wrote them down to determine if they were good enough. A few of the ideas were: Wordflow Studio, Webber Wordworks, Wordcraft, Amy’s Arts, and a few others that just seem silly right now. Wordflow Studio was nice but didn’t have that oomph. Wordcraft was taken. Amy’s Arts was good but made me think of a ceramics or painting studio. Plus it was a business on Etsy, so no. Webber Wordworks had a rhythm to it, and I liked it, but something was holding me back. I wasn’t sure what.

And then I thought of a friend of mine who calls me and many of his friends “Her Worship” or “His Worship” and that got me thinking. And googling. And so was born a wonderful play on words. Which is something that is always fun. When you can play with words, you will never be left without entertainment.

Her Wordship was born.
