Setting Up Services

Setting up my writing and editing services has been exciting and since my new business is in the area of my expertise and my loves, I can’t wait to get to ‘work’. I remember an old friend accountant who had started his own business saying, “I don’t take the job if I don’t think it’s going to be fun.” I wondered if anyone would consider anything in the world of accounting ‘fun’ but I guess that’s why I’m not an accountant and he is. My list of services (reminding you that I am not an accountant) will be fun. They will introduce me to people I would not have met otherwise and teach me things that I don’t know yet. This, my friends, is exciting to me. Here is a list of Her Wordship’s services:

Writing Services:

Ghostwriting your story $300.00, Ghostwriting your speech $300.00, Ghostwriting your book $12,500.00

Your story will be written and you’ll get 100% of the credit. You, as the credited author, will get the final word as to what does and does not go into the piece. It will be written in your voice and not that of the ghostwriter. To supply that artistic service I will need to meet with you either on Zoom or one-on-one (travel paid for by the client). As the ghostwriter, I will analyze the overall pacing and logical flow of the piece to determine what types of edits it will need after it is written and before publication. All edits after the contract is fulfilled are extra and charged at line editing rates.

  • Short stories (Memoir, Fiction, Non-fiction, Fantasy) up to 3000 words

  • Speech with fact-checking up to 2000 words

  • Book of up to 125,000 words

Daily Blogging for Your Business $4,000.00, Weekly Blogging for Your Business $800.00, Monthly Blogging for Your Business $250.00

Each blog will be 300-1200 words to be published on your website on an agreed-upon day. Your blog will highlight your products, customers, the community where your business resides, and anything else that you would like. We will meet through Zoom or one-on-one to discuss your target customers and your expectations on blogging. Blogging is the perfect forum to connect with your community in a deeper way than the website alone by increasing customer satisfaction through engagement. Your blog will actively fuel your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts by providing timely and relevant information about your business. In turn, your business will likely grow.

Book Design and proof copy ordered for Self-Publishers $3,894.00

When I helped my mom publish her memoir, Love is a Family: Memoir of a Lifetime (July 21, 2018), I created her 6”x9” book with all the design experience I have and it’s a beautiful book. I can do the same for you. We will meet either on Zoom or one-on-one (travel paid for by the client) to discuss your ideas for the finished product. We’ll talk about what publisher you would like to go through (CreateSpace is Amazon’s publishing company), the size and type of font, the pictures (total of 20) that you would like to include, and your overall vision for the book. I will design it, add the pictures, and order a proof copy from the self-publisher publishing company of your choice.

Newsletters for Family or Businesses $350.00

Many businesses and families use newsletters to share information with their network of interested people. My family has sent out newsletters for years, starting out as monthly newsletters written by my family members and published by me. Businesses and organizations use them as direct access to their customers for sales promotion and to drive traffic to their websites. Whether you send them in paper form, pdf form, or as an e-mail, a newsletter connects people. The subjects addressed, the people introduced, and the funny anecdotes written, help bring hominess and connectedness to any subject. I will design, edit, and publish the newsletter. Subjects are to be determined by family members or company employees. Articles are sent to me in Word at amyjwebber13@gmail.com.

Editing:

Proofreading Non-fiction before publication $1,250.00

Proofreading is the stage of publishing a book that comes directly before the book goes to print. After the copy has been edited and seems ready to go, this is when the proofreading stage begins. It’s the proofreader’s job to meticulously comb through the proof to see if the copy editor has missed anything. And to catch any mistakes that the copy editor may have inadvertently introduced into the final file such as:

1. Incorrect numbering of pages

2. Inaccurate indexing

3. Misaligned text

4. Additional or missing spaces between words

Since this is a non-fiction book, there will be fact-checking.

Line Editing $4,375.00

Your line editor ensures that the sentences in your book (or article) are effective and succinct. I will work line-by-line, to tighten up sentence structure so the language is sharp and clear. I analyze the word choice, character names, and settings to determine overall themes and meanings. I will focus on syntax, tone, and emotion, which contribute to the manuscript. Finally, I will also consider and comment on the overall pacing and logical flow of a piece. Price quoted is for line editing, not developmental editing. All developmental work should have happened already. This price is for approx: 500 words per page/250 pages/125,000 words total=.035 a word.

Developmental Editing $4,375.00

As your Developmental Editor, I will focus on resolving “big picture” issues in your manuscripts, including structure, form, plot, and character. Since this type of editing focuses on wider story elements, we won’t address sentence-level errors such as punctuation and grammar typos. I will bear your target audience in mind and assess your work in relation to industry standards and expectations. Once the developmental editing contract is complete, we can move on to line editing for an additional price of 3.5 cents a word.

Proofreading Fiction Before Publication $3,125.00

Proofreading is the stage of publishing a book that comes directly before the book goes to print. After the copy has been edited and seems ready to go, this is when the proofreading stage begins. It’s the proofreader’s job to meticulously comb through the proof to see if the copy editor has missed anything. And to catch any mistakes that the copy editor may have inadvertently introduced into the final file such as:

1. Incorrect numbering of pages

2. Inaccurate indexing

3. Misaligned text

4. Additional or missing spaces between words

No fact-checking.

Treatment and Term Paper Editing $87.50

Have your 2-5 page novel treatment or term paper professionally edited. This is a primary developmental editing service for those who have had a publisher request a treatment or outline. As well as term papers that need developmental and copy editing work. For treatments/papers longer than 5 pages: $80 per hour will be charged.

Included:

1. Developmental editing.

2. Copy editing to pick up any grammar or spelling errors.

As you can see, I’ve been pretty excited to go through all the services I’m going to be providing as the owner and sole proprietor of Her Wordship. I’m looking forward to meeting you all! This is going to be quite a ride! Cheers!
